On September 7, alumnus Floyd Cardoz (86) challenged American celebrity chef Bobby Flay on the cooking show Iron Chef America on Food Network, a culinary game show. Other chefs to have participated in this six season (2008) are for instance Brittish chef Jamie Oliver or Swedish chef Markus Samuelsson.
After one hour of intense cooking competition with snails as "secret ingredient" Iron Chef Flay was proclaimed as the winner.
Floyd is the Executive Chef of Tabla, a groundbreaking restaurant serving New Indian cuisine cooked with the sensual flavors and spices of his native land in New York City. Floyd opened Tabla in 1998 with famed restaurateur Danny Meyer and chef Michael Romano of Union Square Cafe.
