On October 8th, our first Swiss Night in Chile was held at the prestigious
Polo Club San Cristobal in Santiago. Over 140 guests and VIPs joined us for
this memorable Swiss-flavored evening orchestrated with flair by our local Educational Counselor, Mrs. Monica Kurth.
Among the distinguished guests: the Swiss Ambassador, Mr. André Regli
and his delegation; Mrs. Cecilia Sommeroff, wife of the Ministry of Interior;
Mrs. Dominique Berthet, wife of the President of the Chilean Federation of Industry, Mr. and Mrs. Spies, President of the Federation of Hotelier and Gastronomy; Mrs. Carolina Maturana, director of Becas-Chile; General
managers of Swiss industries; Directors of Laureate universities and local hospitality universities; Head of Swiss and Int’l schools; Directors of
five-star deluxe hotels; journalists; potential students with parents and
twelve alumni from both Glion and Les Roches – all made this event a
great success.
After a welcoming cocktail and an introduction highlighting the diplomatic
ties between Chile and Switzerland by Mr. the Ambassador, time came for
our school presentation followed by two Chilean alumni testimonies –
Ms. Andrea Ilabaca Searle (93) and Mr. Hugo Desenzani (01).
The evening was enjoyed by all and the time seemed to fly by way too fast.
After enjoying a typical three-course Swiss dinner and wine and sharing
great memories with friends and alumni, it was already time to leave the
club and to think about the next event. No doubt that 2010, which is the
official year of the Bicentennial anniversary (1810-2010), will bring new opportunities for friendships and partnerships between Chile and Switzerland.
